Today’s word: HONESTY

“The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them” (Proverbs 11:3).

We are to be truthful in all things, not just when it is convenient or in special circumstances. When we allow deceit or a dishonest word to enter into our daily lives no matter how small it may seem, we become more resistant to God’s truth and this ultimately spoils the manner in which we witness to others.

I have heard it said; “tell one small lie and it takes two more to cover it up.” I believe this to be the truth. Our reluctance to tell the truth in small things will typically lead to dishonesty in the big things and soon becomes the hallmark of our lives.

In Deuteronomy 25:11 we read; “You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a heavy and a light. You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small. You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure, that your days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the Lord your God.” In this Scripture God was instructing Israel to be honest in its daily business transactions. Throughout the Bible we see that God hates cheating. He expects us without fail to be honest in all our transactions and business, no matter if it’s in our personal lives or our workplace. Our material world will daily put us to the test of being either honest or dishonest. We must choose to be more Christ-like and conduct our dealings with others with all integrity, and in all honesty.God heals us from all that which can destroy our relationship with Him when we ask Him to help us.
