Today’s word: BAGGAGE

Here we are we’re all set to go! We arrive at the airport terminal, passenger check-in. We’re in a hurry to catch our flight, but we’ve got all this baggage we’re carrying!

There is this big trunk which is loaded down with our “guilt.” It’s real heavy, and we always pack this same old stuff everywhere we go. They announce our flight over the PA; they’re starting to check passengers in at our gate, but wait, we’ve got all this stuff we’re carrying! We have this large, two-suiter suitcase that’s got our “sin” in it! We’ve got to take our sin along with us, it’s got stuff in it that goes back years and years with us. What about this large, duffle bag of “doubt?” Never know when we’ll need to drag some of this junk out when we’re doing something new, and for the first time. And, oh yeah, this little bag of “resentment,” we always tote this demon around wherever we go. You know how we are when things don’t go like we planned! Okay, we can see the passenger check-in counter ahead, we’re almost there, but wait! We can’t go anywhere without our little overnighter bag of “hurt”, we take this with us everywhere we go because we’ve been treated badly in the past, and we’re just waiting for it to happen to us again!

“What’s that Lord? You still want me to come to you? But Lord, don’t you see I’ve got all this heavy baggage! Surely, you don’t mean you still want me when I’ve got all this stuff I’m carrying? You do? But Lord, I’ve not been a good person; I have neglected You most of my life! Why there have been times when I wasn’t sure I even believed in You! What’s that? You forgive me? Okay, Lord I’ll let you carry all my heavy baggage. I’ll place it all on Your strong shoulders like you said in (Matthew 11:30), Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden light.’ Lord, I’m so sorry I neglected You all these years; I’m sorry I failed to trust You like I did! But I’ll go with You now Lord, wherever You lead me. I am ready Lord!”
